Traffic is mainly the concern of many bloggers. If you want to improve your site ranking you should have an ample amount of traffic to your site. To analyze the movement of traffic in your blog you should install at least one traffic analytics. One good example is the google analytics. It is free to install and it has many features which will provide an overview of your traffic. According to google analytics there are three main sources of traffic;
1. The search engine- it is the traffic coming from searchers made on search engines. Search engine picks up the keywords from your content which the searchers are trying to locate. In order to invite more visitors from this source you should have a dense keywords in your content.
2. Referring links – visitors coming through links on other web sites. Most notable referring links are those coming from social networking sites and blog exchange sites. Some of these popular social networking are the technorati, stumble upon, digg, reddit, facebook, twitter, blog catalog, entrecards and there are many more new social networking coming up everyday. Also fall under this source is the exchange traffic which are flooding the internet.
3. Direct traffic – people typing the name of the website directly into the browser this also includes you. You can solicit your offline friends or advertise your blog to your organization so they may visit your blog.
Google analytics also shows a breakdown report of the three main source of traffic. Such example:
8.97% - direct traffic
22.76% - Referring Sites
68.28% - Search Engines
The above traffic menu, is an ideal breakdown, if you are running an advertising campaign on other websites or if you have improved your website to rank on the first page of search engine results pages (SERP), this search engine is the first section you should check.
