Cinderella Man is a timely inspirational story during this time of economic recession as the story happened at the time of the so called "great depression" in United States.
Jim Braddock (stars by Russel Crowe) may have been a forgotten athlete, not until his Cinderella-like story was reeled into becoming an inspirational movie. He was supposedly a washed up boxer but came back and pursued his boxing career with a more determined vow to succeed.
As the nation was entering a great depression Jim Braddock was compelled to accept a hand-to-mouth sustenance job just so he could feed his family. He should have been a promising light-heavyweight champion, but was forced to retire because of the fractured rib which he got from a heavy blow in one of his fights. The great depression was too much to bear for a once well-off boxer like Jim Braddock. He was back again in a ring through the constant prodding by his friend-manager who believed on his capacity to regain his championship. His only inspiration and aspiration is nothing more than to regain the abundance his family once had. But this time he was facing a ruthless world heavy-weight champion, Max Baer (plays by Craig Bierko) who have known to kill two of his opponents in a ring through a foul-play. With the absence of an established rule in a boxing game that time, Max Baer remained a formidable world heavy-weight champion.
Jim Braddock was determined and undaunted to challenge the reigning champion despite of his being lighter in weight and considered the underdog. His supportive wife, Mae together with several of the townsfolk prayed for his success. Follow the movie story in DVD. The movie was filmed in 2005 but the story is ranging as good collection.
