Delectable Filipino Fruit Salad this Christmas

(photo by Jack Hess of Flickr)
There is this delectable Filipino Fruit salad recipe I tasted prepared to me by my cousin. Fruit salad is a regular recipe you find in Filipino cuisine on every occasion especially during Christmas. Preparation is similar to the Western fruit salad except with the mixture of “buko” or the young coconut and native ingredients like “kaong” fruit from a palm tree family and “Nata de Coco” a cube jelly-like product from coconut water. What makes it delectable is the addition of shredded Edam Cheese or the “Queso de Bola” , a ball cheese wrapped in red wax. Its salty taste blended deliciously with the sweet taste of condensed milk.

Ingredients:

1 jar of Kaong
1 jar of Nata de Coco
1 large can of fruit cocktail
1 package of frozen young coconut
1/2 cup of condensed milk
1/2 tub of whip cream or 1 sml. can of nestle cream (beaten)
1 cup of shredded Queso de bola (ball cheese)

Procedure:

Step 1:
Drain the syrup from fruit cocktail, shredded young coconut, kaong and nata de coco To drain, mix them all together in a strainer and leave them for few minutes.

Step 2:
Place the drained ingredients together in a large mixing bowl and add the condense milk. Mix well.

Step 3
Add the nestle cream then the grated “Queso de bola” Mix them thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly blended. Refrigerate or chill for at least an hour before you serve. Enjoy.
