The familiar faces of roads in Manila during Christmas season is the heavy flow of traffic on the main thorough fare, while commercial streets are jammed packed with sidewalk vendors. Children scampered around and group of teens strolling inside shopping mall.
Crowds are denser during the start of school vacation. I just left the house this morning and went downtown, I was appalled by the surge of kids around the shopping malls holding Christmas gifts and suddenly, I remember that this is the last school day and the prelude to long Holiday vacation that will end on the first week of January next year. During the last school day most of the classes hold their Christmas Parties inside the room with exchange gifts and parlor games as the main fun activities.
Christmas Parties are usually celebrated by school, family, company, organization and church. It always accompanied with songs, dances, gift-giving, prize draw, games and art contest.
The Holiday is the season to splurge on things and foods. It is considered as the rich season, where company bonuses are being distributed to employees, children receive their wished toys from their parents, the couple shares their cherished gifts to each other and families prepared the most lavished dishes on the table. So much to be awaited and expect, splurge and scrimp, give and take, most especially we could just hope and pray for the year to come.
